Canada Supports Clean, Renewable Energy Technologies in British Columbia

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, today announced a $1-million investment for Deh Tai Limited Partnership, the economic development company of the Fort Nelson First Nation, to assess the resource potential of several renewable energy technologies. This assessment includes a potential geothermal electricity generation project, which involves the Saulteau First Nations' participation.

Canada Invests in Alberta’s First Commercial-Scale Geothermal Facility

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, today announced a $25.4-million investment in Northwestern Alberta’s first commercial-scale geothermal facility, which will generate clean energy  and create jobs. The project, Alberta No. 1, will be overseen by a partnership between an Albertan company and the Municipal District of Greenview.

E3 Metals Awarded a Technology Development Project Under GreenCentre Canada's RISE Program

This award will provide E3 metals with a 6-month development project with access to GreenCentre Canada's full suite of services to "assist E3 in operating the lab-scale flow system, advancing the ion exchange sorbent material and working towards scaling the process towards a pilot."

Geothermal Project: Commencement of Construction

On August 6th, 2019, an update on the geothermal energy demonstration facility located near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta was released. As of August 2nd the drilling of two wells have commenced and are scheduled to be complete  in two months. 


CanGEA member, the University of Alberta is a key actor in the project and mentioned throughout the article.

​Hybrid Geothermal Energy Plant to Connect to Alberta Power Grid

On July 30th, 2019, an article written by Angie Bergenson was released by Hydrogen Fuel News highlighting the hybrid geothermal energy plant being constructed in Swan Hills, Alberta, Canada. Through the geothermal energy plant, the article articulates the complimentary nature of geothermal energy to the oil and gas industry. 


CanGEA member, the University of Alberta is a key actor in the project and mentioned throughout the article.
