Saskatchewan Moving Forward with Geothermal Development, but Why hasn't the Geothermal Industry Taken off in Alberta?

1/31/2019

With Saskatchewan moving forward with geothermal energy development, why hasn't the industry taken off in Alberta? Interesting CBC article on the DEEP project and Alberta's lagging geothermal energy industry. CBC Article.

CanGEA is encouraged by the comments from Alberta Energy representative Mike McKinnon:
"We're looking at ways to help get shovels in the ground on more immediate opportunities to create new jobs through private investment in geothermal developments while also developing a long-term policy, and we expect to have updates throughout 2019."

1/1/2019

“This is a remarkable achievement after many years of passionate work and dedication by myriad industry proponents including the DEEP team, NRCan, Canadian Geothermal Energy Association, SaskPower and Saskatchewan government, and the local community. CanGEA looks forward to the DEEP project paving the way for replication projects in the many sedimentary basins that Canada hosts in almost every province and territory as well as the hard rock project sites in BC and Yukon.”
