On June 27th, 2019, Razor Energy, Natural Resources Canada ("NR Can") and CanGEA member, Alberta Innovates, announced the funding of a co-produced geothermal electricity project utilizing an active oil and gas operation in Alberta (the “Project”). Furthermore, in association with the Project, CanGEA member, the University of Alberta continues to conduct geothermal research on the heat potential of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin.
The full article is available here. On June 18th, 2019, the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion (TMX) pipeline was approved. CanGEA pushes the message that the TMX allows Canada to showcase its new energy vision. While global markets receive access to responsibly-produced oil, generators of renewable energy here at home should be tasked with electrifying the pipeline and its operations.
