The Canadian Geothermal Energy Association (CanGEA) is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to increase and promote our membership as well as the benefits of geothermal power and heating across Canada through innovative research, market development, and policy advocacy.
As geothermal policy issues surface, CanGEA is poised to join the discussion with our Federal, Provincial, and Territorial governments as well as develop advocacy initiatives that have our membership's best interests in mind.
Through regular meetings and consultations with government representatives at all levels of government on geothermal energy, CanGEA has developed strong working relationships with all major political parties. We continue to leverage our existing connections, both publicly and privately, to support our membership on current and developing policy issues.
Are you a company, individual, community, or First Nations looking to be involved in the Canadian geothermal industry? CanGEA does everything it can to support our members by providing information, hosting events with member discounts, organizing market visits around the world, and much more. In turn, membership fees directly support our efforts to unlock Canada's tremendous geothermal energy potential. Learn more about CanGEA memberships here.
A Geothermal discussion
We assist decision makers at the community level and in the corporate, public, First Nations and non-profit sectors to uncover new sources of value in our rapidly changing societies. Learn more about our discussion services here.
Research & Publications
In support of Open Data, CanGEA deployed the Canadian National Geothermal Database (CNGD) - an online, open-source platform that facilitates discovery and use of subsurface geothermal data for research and energy production.
We also have reports on the potential for geothermal energy using existing oil and gas wells, how geothermal energy is a cost-effective alternative to Site C, and much more. Learn more about our publications here.
