CanGEA Forming Policy Committees

6/30/2017

July 12, 2017
The geothermal energy industry is at a critical point to make effective change. We are placing a greater focus on policy to adapt to this with the goal to inform policy makers and government while our voice is at its prime to be heard. In response to this, CanGEA is pleased to announce that we will be forming two Policy Committees, one for Alberta & Saskatchewan and another one for British Columbia & Territories.

We are looking to our corporate members to form a team of individuals who will develop a consistent vision of geothermal royalties and policies regulations on a 1 year commitment and will be knowledgeable representatives of CanGEA and the geothermal energy industry. Candidates are required to be  a good-standing Geyser or Volcano member.

Who Will Be On Our Committee?

Our policy committee will be made up of individuals whose own interest is serving other members for the geothermal industry and understands the priorities of the industry.

The Chairs of the Committees have been chosen by the Board and they will, in turn, help select the Committee members. The Chair of the Committees will serve on CanGEA's Federal Policy Committee.

Alberta & Saskatchewan Chair: Liz Lappin
British Columbia & Territories Chair: Alison Thompson

What Will The Policy Committee Do?

Policy Committee members are expected to commit approximately 10hr/month, attend 1 meeting/month, communicate with other committee members consistently, represent CanGEA at government events, and provide monthly summaries to share with other Geyser and Volcano members.
If you are interested in joining a committee, please contact CanGEA Policy Manager Nathan Coles.
