Men also encouraged to attend. Advance tickets are necessary for us to order catering.

The mission of WING is "to promote the education, professional development, and advancement of women in the geothermal community."

This event will be hosted by WING. The purpose is to network, discuss industry issues, and discuss issues faced specifically by women in the industry. The two major challenges faced by women in the industry are unequal pay, and a lack of female leadership roles and mentors. As a part of their mission WING hosts networking events, awards ceremonies, and organizes mentoring programs to develop a stronger female presence in the geothermal industry. Click here for a list of some  other issues faced by women in the geothermal industry, as reported by WING's polls.

As well come and meet companies in the Canadian geothermal industry and hear about the projects they are working on.  Many of the companies have taken on undergraduate and graduate students for co-op and summer work terms in the past and are already planning for next year. Companies have also sponsored postgraduate work and are looking for additional research projects to be undertaken.

Funding through various government programs (NRCan, Eco Canada, NSERC, etc.), that will assist companies to work with students, will be highlighted.

This is an amazing opportunity to share your own experiences and ask questions of industry professionals. We encourage you to come share your experiences and learn from others.

While this event is centred around female involvement in the geothermal community, we welcome any males wishing to attend, especially those offering to be mentors. Please come and bring a friend!

The cost for regular event registration is $25, and $15 plus GST (5%) for student registration. Click here to register. If you have any further questions, contact CanGEA at info@cangea.ca or a.blair@gns.cri.nz.
