TELUS Spark - Energy Series - The Power of the Atom

Nuclear reactions are responsible for the heat that geothermal technology utilizes. Join us for a journey from the centre of the atom to the centre of the Earth as we dig deeper into the topic of geothermal energy. This event is part of the Telus Spark Adults Only Night – Energy Series.
 
The event will feature: 

1. A Geothermal 101 presentation by CanGEA Ambassadors Liz Lappin and Zac Trolley (A dynamic geology and engineering duo!) 
2. "Geothermal Rocks" Interactive Display - Learn about geothermal geology! Touch and feel the rocks we extract hot fluids from, kilometers below the surface. Unearth the link between nuclear and geothermal. Play our game "Pin the rig on the Geothermal Potential in Canada." Discover Alberta's geothermal possibilities in the oil patch. 
3. "Geothermal Is Hot For You" Interactive Display - Featuring commercial opportunities for geothermal heat in Canada (There's plenty of them, and here's a hint: a lot of them have to do with food!) Wondering how heat turns into power? Find out by participating in our steam turbine experiment. 
4. CanGEA's "You've Got the Power" Table, with giveaway prizes and quick and easy ways to advocate for geothermal in Canada. 
5. Conversation Cafe. Enjoy a drink and a heated conversation with one of our geothermal experts, who will be there all night to answer all your burning questions.
