Nunavut
Qulliq Energy Corporation, in partnership with Respec Inc., is actively involved in groundbreaking research on the feasibility of geothermal energy in Nunavut. The research team spent time in Cambridge Bay and Resolute Bay to assess the potential for geothermal energy to reduce Nunavut’s heavy reliance on diesel. The team found promising results: rock and water formations in the studied areas are capable of generating enough heat to produce electricity. These findings offer an alternative, environmentally friendly energy solution and pose potential benefits for heating homes and promoting sustainable food production in these remote communities. This marks an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to transition Nunavut towards a more sustainable and cost-effective energy future. Read more about it on the Weather Network website.
