What this package contains:
(1) Which O&G Wells have Potential for Geothermal Power or Heat Applications?
Allows the user to view over 60,000 oil and gas wells in Alberta that have the potential for geothermal production. The wells are divided into three categories, based on the temperature at the bottom of the well:
-Power Generation (>120°C) : about 500 wells
-Industrial Heat (>90°C): about 7,200 wells
-Direct Heat (>60°C): about 53,000 wells
(2) Which Potential Geothermal Wells are Close to Relevant Infrastructure?
Allows users to navigate through 3 scenarios (Direct Heat, Industrial Heat, Power Generation) where the wells are all within 10km of relevant infrastructure. Additionally allows users to compare municipality vs. road distance and also to select a municipality to see all nearby wells.
This product also contains a free copy of the Main Filtering Study Report, Technical Analysis and Methodology:
The main report was prepared for the “Potential for Geothermal Energy from Co-Production in Alberta using Existing Oil and Gas wells,” also known as the “Filtering Study." This portion of the filtering study is an overview of what geothermal energy is, how it is developed, and the various ways it can be used by the public and private sectors across Alberta.
This product also contains 1 freedownload of the raw data (.xlsx) used to make the dashboard.
