The European Geothermal Congress (EGC) is the biggest event that brings together the entire European geothermal sector, and attracts hundreds of people from Europe and around the world. Organised every 3 years, the congress continues the series of European geothermal events that originated under the International Geothermal Association, the most recent of which have been EGC 2019 in The Hague, Netherlands; EGC 2016 in Strasbourg, France; EGC 2013 in Pisa, Italy; EGC 2007 in Unterhaching (Munich), Germany; EGC 2003 in Szeged, Hungary; and EGC 1999 in Basel, Switzerland.
Since 2013, the European Geothermal Congress is organised by EGEC, the European Geothermal Energy Council, which is the trade association for geothermal in Europe. Every edition is co-organised by a national member of EGEC. Learn more here.

Towards a Geothermal Industrial Strategy:
A conversation with Dr. Bentley Allan
As technologies improve, geothermal energy is becoming an increasingly important part of our net-zero future... But for a thriving geothermal industry to emerge in Canada, we need more than just technology: we need a shared strategy.
Join us on January 12th at 10:30 AM MST as the Energy Futures Lab and CanGEA co-host Dr. Bentley Allan for a discussion on Geothermal Industrial Strategy for Canada. This interactive session will include a presentation, followed by a moderated Q&A session. We encourage your participation and curiosity!
Bentley Allan, PhD, is the Resident Fellow for Green Industrial Policy at the Transition Accelerator. He is also Associate Professor of Political Science at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Allan is an award-winning scholar who has written on the dynamics of international order, science and politics, climate policy, and the political economy of decarbonization. Dr. Allan co-leads the Clean Competitiveness Roadmaps project, which builds support for a green industrial strategy in Canada. The project identifies economic opportunities in the energy transition, co-develops industry roadmaps to accelerate action, and distills lessons for smart industrial policy from international case studies.
