We have requested a meeting to discuss the low-hanging fruit of geothermal energy development in Alberta-- the direct-use of geothermal heat for industrial processes. CanGEA Policy Level members may view our memo here. A meeting has since been set for December 3, 2024. 

Our submission requested that the Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit (ITC) include geothermal production wells as eligible assets and that Canada fund a portfolio of public-private projects to switch large industrial natural gas customers to geothermal heat. We also forwarded these comments to the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development.
