CanGEA's statement on the NDP's review of the Site C Project

8/15/2017

August 15th, 2017.

CanGEA supports the birth of the geothermal industry in Canada; a country with globally significant resources, but has not yet developed the thermal energy potential within its borders. More specifically, British Columbia is believed to hold a significant source of low-cost, clean, renewable base load energy (electricity and heat), and is currently the only province that has geothermal-specific legislation. For these reasons, CanGEA supports the NDP’s rapid review of the Site C Hydroelectric dam project as it allows for the consideration of alternative projects in relation to electricity.
