Offshore Date Manager - Mainstream Renewable Power

Mainstream Renewable Power was founded by Eddie O’Connor in 2008 to develop wind and solar plants globally. The company has a global development portfolio of over 12,000MW both onshore and offshore across four continents.

 

Mainstream is Europe’s leading offshore wind developer with 5,420MW over three projects in Scotland, England and Germany. The company is developing the 4,000MW Hornsea zone off the east of England with its joint venture partner Siemens Projects Ventures.  The joint venture, known as SMart Wind, was awarded the rights to develop the zone by The Crown Estate in December 2009 and plans to start construction in 2014.

 

Mainstream’s key assets are its people and its knowledge. Mainstream has a key requirement to ensure data and documents are stored, checked, controlled and available to the business functions.

 

The  offshore data manager will work closely with the environmental , engineering and other teams to identify key sources of data; design and implement a data management strategy; ensure that key data and documents are securely stored and easily accessible to key users; assist with the production of key documents and drawings as required.

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

 

Work closely with the offshore team (particularly environmental and engineering) to identify key sources of business critical data and documentation.

Working with the Head of Offshore IT, and the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager to construct, implement improve and maintain a taxonomy (filing system) for all data and documentation related to the research, development, construction and operations of offshore renewable energy projects.

Work with The Crown Estate to ensure commitments for data submissions are successfully completed.

Work with business development team to ensure that the necessary data is available when Mainstream offer projects on the marketplace.

Work with contract managers to ensure that data standards and transfer are a key element of all contractual negotiations where required

Standardize metadata requirements across all managed data.  Balance the need for accurate searches with the necessity for quick and efficient filing.

Develop a standardised approach to data security and other access privileges.

Develop a consistent framework for the creation, maintenance and decommissioning of “data rooms” to provide efficient, secure external access to Mainstream partners and potential partners. 

Work with all business functions to develop and maintain data management policies and procedures.  Provide employees with guidance and direction on document submission and filing.

Liaise with Information Services on systems changes and implementations to ensure that they are consistent with evolving business processes and the ongoing needs of frontline employees.

Promote and consult on the effective use of the Enterprise Content Management system.  Provide non-technical “how-to” advice and tutelage to colleagues.

Produce occasional reports and drawings as required by the senior management team. 

Monitor and enforce compliance with Mainstream’s data taxonomy.

Audit individual and group access privileges to enterprise content to ensure that Mainstream’s intellectual property is secure from compromise.  Assist internal and external audit functions in doing the same.

Audit the quality and consistency of key sources of data.

Provide periodic reports to management regarding the volume, method and appropriateness of access to and usage of the SharePoint Enterprise Content Management system.

Provide periodic reports to management regarding Mainstream employees’ compliance with standards for content management.

Monitor and enforce Mainstream’s compliance with ISO standards for storage, management and security of electronic documentation and data arising from project activities and other electronic content.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 

The candidate must be equipped with at least 2 years experience, and a proven track record of data management and document for  major construction projects preferably in the wind industry.

 

The candidate should be equipped with the following key skills

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Ability to work in a team, coordinate and enthuse colleagues and consultants

Strong initiative and the ability to proactively identify required tasks

Excellent attention to detail

Ability to maintain sight of the ‘big picture’ and overarching objectives at all times

A working knowledge of current database systems and GIS tools , preferably ARCVIEW

Excellent IT skills, including experience with MS Word, Excel, Power point, MS Sharepoint,

An organised approach to working, task prioritisation and time management

A willingness to travel periodically when required.
